patients in waiting roomThe VCU-affiliated St. Francis Family Medicine Residency Program first opened its doors to train family physicians in the art and science of family medicine in July 2005. The growing medical practice works in collaboration with VCU’s established residency program to create a new family medicine residency that offers a mixture of rural- and suburban-based medical practice.

The program is sponsored by the Bon Secours Richmond Health System and features core rotations at St. Francis Medical Center, a new state-of-the-art hospital. Full accreditation for the program was received from the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education.
